Information We Collect

We collect the information you give us directly, plus some information that's collected automatically when you visit the site.

• Assessment answers — what you tell us in the short questionnaire about your situation, such as the general type of problem, rough numbers, timeline, and state or ZIP code.
• Contact details — if you ask to be connected with help, we collect your name, phone number, email address, and state or ZIP code.
• Technical data — like most websites, we automatically collect things like your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site or search engine that referred you.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people use the site — which pages get visited, which browsers and devices people use, and how traffic moves through the assessment. Google Analytics has its own privacy practices, separate from this policy.

We deliberately do not send your contact details (name, phone, email) or your free-text assessment answers to Google Analytics. Analytics sees anonymized, aggregate usage patterns — never who you are or what you personally told us.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Show you relevant categories of options based on your assessment answers.
• Contact you, and share your details with one or more third-party providers, if you've asked to be connected with help.
• Operate, maintain, and improve the site.
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse of the assessment or contact form.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

How We Share Your Information

If you ask to be connected with help, we share your contact details and relevant assessment answers with one or more third-party providers who may be able to assist with the category of option you're interested in. We may be compensated for this — see our Advertising & Partner Disclosure for how that works.

Those providers have their own privacy policies and are responsible for how they handle your information once they receive it. We encourage you to look at a provider's privacy policy before working with them.

We may also share information with service providers who help us run the site (for example, hosting and analytics), with our professional advisors, when required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or similar business transfer.

We don't sell your information to data brokers for their own unrelated marketing. That said, sharing your details with a provider you've asked to be connected with, in exchange for compensation to us, may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some state privacy laws. See "Your Privacy Rights" below for how to opt out of that.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy — generally, long enough to make the connection you asked for, respond to you, meet our legal and accounting obligations, and resolve any disputes. After that, we delete it or de-identify it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to think your information has been compromised, email hello@unpikl.com.

Children's Privacy

Unpikl isn't directed to, and isn't intended for use by, anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@unpikl.com and we'll delete it.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws — including California's and other states with similar laws — may give you rights such as the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, the right to access or get a copy of it, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of the sharing described above.

We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Calls and Texts

If you give us your phone number, expect that we — and any third-party provider we connect you with — may call or text you about the category of option you asked about. Message and data rates may apply. You can ask us to stop at any time; see below.

How to Opt Out

To stop receiving communications from us, or to withdraw your consent to being contacted, email hello@unpikl.com with your name and the phone number or email address you used. If a third-party provider has already reached out, you may need to opt out with them directly too — their message should say how.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
